A recent report from England has credited Aston Villa with an interest in David Brooks.

Aston Villa reportedly eyeing Bournemouth’s David Brooks

Brook’s Bournemouth stint

David Brooks joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2018, from then-Championship outfit Sheffield United.

The Cherries are understood to have paid United just over £10m for the attack-minded midfielder’s services.

Brooks went on to enjoy a fruitful debut campaign on the south coast, notching seven goals and five assists in 30 Premier League outings.

However, the Welshman’s 2019/20 campaign was riddled with injury.

Brooks suffered ligament damage in July of 2018, and was originally expected to be out until December of 2019.

However, the 23-year-old was then forced to undergo a second operation, meaning he had to wait until June of 2020 for his first outing of the previous campaign.

Aston Villa linked with Brooks

Brooks, though, has since largely managed to stay injury-free and looks to be rediscovering some of his form.

Bournemouth were, of course, relegated from the Premier League last term.

But they have been one of the standout sides in the Championship of late, with Brooks managing to notch three goals and five assists in 16 league outings.

This has, unsurprisingly, led to some transfer speculation around the winger.

Brooks was linked with both Manchester United and Leicester in the delayed summer window:

But on Sunday, another PL outfit have been credited with an interest in the Welshman.

That side, according to the Mirror, is Aston Villa.

No potential fee is mentioned in the piece by the Mirror. But given Brooks has just under 18 months to run on his deal, perhaps Villa could get him somewhat cheaper?
