Jose Mourinho provides update on Harry Kane following Tottenham’s loss to Liverpool

Tottenham vs Liverpool

The midweek Premier League action drew to a close on Thursday evening.

The final tie of the game week would see Tottenham play host to Liverpool.

The Reds headed into the clash in simply dire form. Jurgen Klopp’s side were winless in their previous five league ties and a 1-0 loss vs Burnley last week meant that Liverpool’s unbeaten Anfield record, spanning 68 games, was brought to an end.

Spurs, meanwhile, hadn’t been in great form of late, but had still lost just one in five.

However, when all was said and done at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it would be the visitors who came away with all three points.

A fairly end-to-end first 45 eventually saw Liverpool take the lead in injury time.

Jordan Henderson played a lovely ball into Sadio Mane, who then slipped the ball to Roberto Firmino, with the Brazilian having the simple task of guiding the ball into an open net.

Trent Alexander-Arnold would double Liverpool’s lead right after the break, but a stunning strike from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg saw Spurs pull one back almost instantly:

But Mane then added his second shortly after the hour-mark to all but kill the game off.

Jose Mourinho on Harry Kane

To pile on the north Londoner’s misery on Thursday, they also looked to lose one of their star men to injury.

Harry Kane went down twice in the first 45 holding his ankle before being subbed off at half-time.

Now, speaking post-match Jose Mourinho has provided an update on the forward, confirming that he is expected to be out for a few weeks:
