Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.

United have to turn the corner quickly after losing for the first time in 14 matches. They travel to face Arsenal in their next Premier League clash on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium. The tough games continue for Sheffield United as they travel to Manchester City on the same day.

Sheffield United pull off the result of the season to date in the Premier League by stunning Manchester United with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford. Goals from Kean Bryan and Oliver Burke have secured a vital three points for the Blades in their battle against the drop, earning only their second league win of the season. The Red Devils equalised after Bryan’s opener through Harry Maguire, but Burke’s goal was the decisive moment. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men suffer a huge blow in their bid to compete for the title.

90′ + 4′ United pump one final cross into the box, but the visitors once again hold their ground and clear through Brewster.

90′ + 3′ Norwood is the defender on the spot for the Blades, making a vital challenge in the box to dispossess Martial.

90′ There will be four minutes of added time.

90′ Cavani rises with Baldock in the box from a United corner, but the Uruguayan fouls the full-back and gives away a free-kick.

89′ Jagielka bails out his team-mate Basham at the back, blocking Van de Beek’s cross after the Dutchman dispossessed the defender in the left inside channel.

87′ Bryan and Burke have scored their first Premier League goals tonight – it’s the first time two players have netted their first PL goal against Man Utd in the same match since Esteban Cambiasso and Jamie Vardy did so in September 2014 for Leicester.

86′ Burke is played through by Fleck and he runs at the last United defender Matic. However, the Serb makes a vital tackle to stop the winger in his tracks.

85′ Rashford probes down the right flank and fires a low cross into the middle that Ampadu does well to clear in the left inside channel.

83′ Van de Beek replaces Tuanzebe as Solskjaer bolster his attacking options with his team behind.

82′ Shaw replaces Telles down the left flank for the home side.

76′ SAVE! Space opens up for Telles to strike from 25 yards. His effort takes a deflection off Lundstram and loops dangerously towards goal. Ramsdale has to backpedal and turn it over the bar.

J. Lundstram

Sheffield United

74′ Lundstram runs down the right flank in space. He cuts a low ball towards Burke in the middle. The first shot is blocked, but Lundstram takes possession once more. He offloads again to Burke in the box and this time the winger finds the back of the net.

O. Burke

Sheffield United

74′ GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! BURKE PUTS SHEFFIELD UNITED BACK IN FRONT!!!!!! 2-1!!!! Out of nowhere the visitors regain the lead. Martial loses possession and it allows the Blades to break forward. Lundstram probes down the right flank and finds Burke, who sees his first shot blocked. Sheffield recycle possession and Lundstram offloads to Burke once more. He connects with a firm effort that deflects off the thigh of Tuanzebe before striking the underside of the bar and into the net.

71′ Cavani works an offload towards Fernandes on the edge of the box. The Portuguese takes a touch, but he gets bundled off the ball by a fine challenge from Basham.

O. Burke

B. Sharp

Sheffield United

70′ Burke replaces Sharp in the final third for the visitors.

69′ Pogba whips a dangerous low ball towards the near post for Cavani to attack. The forward allows it to travel past him and it trickles just wide of the left post.

Manchester United

66′ Cavani enters the action to replace Greenwood in the final third.

Alex Telles

Manchester United

64′ Telles whips in a precise cross for Maguire to attack and score.

H. Maguire

Manchester United

64′ GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! MAGUIRE EQUALISES!!! 1-1!! The home side are level as Maguire scores against his hometown club. Telles puts his delivery from a corner on the mark towards the penalty spot. Maguire gets a march on Jagielka and sends his header low into the bottom-right corner, giving Ramsdale no chance.

64′ BLOCK! Fernandes is brought down on the edge of the box, but his free-kick is diverted over the bar the Sheffield United wall.

62′ SAVE! Rashford goes for power from the free-kick and he hits his effort with pace. It dips as it reaches the goalline, but Ramsdale gets his body behind the strike to smother the ball.

61′ Jagielka brings down Martial in the final third, handing United a free-kick in a useful shooting position.

59′ United are struggling to put the visitors under pressure. If anything, the Blades look the more dangerous outfit.

57′ McGoldrick is played in behind the United defence and races through on goal. The forward blasts his strike over the bar, but the offside flag goes up late anyway.

56′ CLOSE! Baldock slides a pass into the feet of McGoldrick in the box. He goes for goal with the outside of his right foot, and his effort swerves just wide of the left post. The Blades are keeping themselves on the front foot.

J. Bogle

K. Bryan

Sheffield United

53′ Bogle replaces the goalscorer Bryan for the visitors.

52′ WIDE! United pressure down the left flank, but Basham repels Fernandes’ cross. The ball comes out to Wan-Bissaka to strike, forcing Ampadu to divert his effort wide of the target.

49′ WIDE! Fernandes threads the needle to release Greenwood in the right inside channel. The forward tries to pick out the bottom-left corner, but places his right-footed strike wide of the post.

47′ Manchester United have failed to win any of their last seven Premier League games at Old Trafford when trailing at half time (D2 L5), since a 3-2 victory vs Southampton in March 2019.

46′ We’re back underway at Old Trafford.

Chris Wilder will be thrilled with his side’s performance thus far. They’ve been committed at the back and have kept United’s key men at bay. At the other end the visitors have been clinical. The Blade need the same effort in the second half.

A surprise could be on the cards at Old Trafford as Sheffield United hold a 1-0 lead over Manchester United at the break. Kean Bryan’s header is the difference between the two sides as he headed home from John Fleck’s corner. The home side have been off the boil in the final third and need a response in the second period to maintain their recent run of excellent form.

45′ + 3′ Norwood fails to beat the first man with his cross, wasting an opportunity to put United under pressure.

45′ + 2′ Fleck remains down for the visitors are landing hard on his knee. However, after treatment he looks to be okay to continue.

43′ Wilder will be thrilled with his side’s defensive performance in the first half. They’ve not allowed the home side an inch.

41′ CHANCE! Telles floats a cross into the right inside channel for Fernandes. The Portuguese does well to force it across the face of goal on the stretch. Martial rises with Basham, but can only float a tame header into the hands of Ramsdale.

J. Lundstram

Yellow Card

Sheffield United

40′ Lundstram pulls back Rashford in the middle of the park and goes into the book.

38′ Fernandes gets the ball out of his feet and lines up a drive from the edge of the box that is charged down by Basham.

35′ McGoldrick almost works the ball through to Bryan in the final third, but the wing-back is caught offside.

34′ Manchester United have won seven Premier League games after conceding first this season – the most of any club – but all these wins have been away from home; they lost the two they conceded first at Old Trafford (vs Crystal Palace and Arsenal).

32′ Rashford and Martial fail to combine on the edge of the Sheffield United box. The home side are not clicking in the final third with their passing game.

31′ Sheffield United have scored their first Premier League goal against Man Utd at Old Trafford since Franz Carr netted in a 2-1 defeat back in February 1993.

30′ DISALLOWED GOAL! Martial steers the ball into the net after Ramsdale drops the ball amid pressure from Maguire. The referee blows for a foul before the Frenchman finds the net, although there was not a great deal in the contact from the United skipper on the Blades keeper.

29′ Rashford has a run at Bryan down the right flank. Ampadu gets across in support and clears behind for a corner.

28′ BLOCK! Wan-Bissaka surges down the right flank and cuts a cross back for Greenwood. He takes a touch before pulling the trigger, but Jagielka diverts it behind for a corner.

27′ SAVE! Greenwood turns on the right flank and drives inside before finding space to power an effort at goal. He connects with a left-footed strike, but his effort is straight at Ramsdale.

Sheffield United

23′ Fleck delivers a perfect cross into the middle for Bryan to rise and head home.

K. Bryan

Sheffield United

23′ GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! BRYAN HEADS THE BLADES IN FRONT!!!! 1-0!!!! The bottom club in the Premier League take the lead at Old Trafford as Bryan converts from close range. Fleck puts his delivery from the right flank on the money towards the near post. Bryan rises highest and gets there ahead of De Gea before guiding his header into the net with the aid of the left post.

22′ The Blades press down the right flank and win a corner off the legs of Tuanzebe.

21′ United have not been able to find their stride tonight and the Blades are growing in confidence as Bryan’s cross just evades McGoldrick in the middle.

19′ Pogba scoops a ball down the right flank for Fernandes to chase. Ramsdale has to scamper off his line and head into touch to keep the Portuguese at bay.

17′ Greenwood breaks into space in the Sheffield United box after latching on to Fernandes’ pass. However, after rounding Ramsdale, he cannot force his strike towards goal from a tight angle amid pressure from Basham.

16′ CHANCE! Fleck releases Sharp behind the last United defender and he runs away from Telles. The striker fires low and hard towards goal, but De Gea makes the stop with his boot.

15′ Norwood releases Fleck in the final third and the midfielder has options. He offloads to the left flank for Bryan, but it’s a stray pass that allows Wan-Bissaka to get across and charge down the cross from the full-back.

13′ Tuanzebe lifts a long ball forward that Martial controls. However, as he tries to carve out room for a strike he loses out to Jagielka.

11′ WIDE! United come within inches of taking the lead. The home side work the ball from left to right before Wan-Bissaka places a dangerous low ball across the box. Rashford meets it first time, but places his right-footed strike just wide of the left post.

10′ Rashford and Fernandes attempt to combine in the final third, but the Portuguese cannot complete the offload back to the forward in the left inside channel.

8′ Fernandes latches on to a delightful ball over the top from Pogba in the Sheffield United box, but he takes a poor touch and spurns a golden opportunity.

5′ The home side have not been able to find a rhythm to their play in the early stages. The Blades are sitting deep in their shape.

3′ Martial is in discomfort, but he returns to the field in an attempt to play on.

2′ Jagielka wins the ball in a challenge with Martial, which sends the Frenchman to the deck. He lands awkwardly and requires treatment.

1′ Fernandes launches an early ball over the top for Rashford, but it just trickles into the hands of Ramsdale inside the penalty area.

1′ We’re underway at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have won their last seven home top-flight encounters with Sheffield United, a run that stretches back to August 1975.

Sheffield United beat Plymouth Argyle in their FA Cup fourth-round contest at the weekend. Wilder has opted to make four changes to his team. Brewster and Bogle drop to the bench, while Enda Stevens misses out due to injury. John Egan is suspended for the contest, which sees Jagielka start in the backline. Bryan gets the nod on the left flank, while Baldock slots in on the right. McGoldrick partners Sharp in the final third.

United overcame Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup last time out. Solskjaer has made five changes to his team from the triumph over the Reds. De Gea returns between the posts, while there are two changes in the back four as Tuanzebe and Telles are rotated into the team to replace Lindelof and Shaw, who drop to the bench. Matic gets the nod ahead of McTominay in the defensive midfield role. Van de Beek and Cavani also make way in the final third for Fernandes and Martial.

SHEFFIELD UNITED SUBS: Lys Mousset, Max Lowe, Oliver Burke, Wes Foderingham, Jayden Bogle, Rhian Brewster.

SHEFFIELD UNITED (3-5-2): Aaron Ramsdale; Chris Basham, Phil Jagielka, Ethan Ampadu; George Baldock, John Lundstram, Oliver Norwood, John Fleck, Kean Bryan; David McGoldrick, Billy Sharp.

MANCHESTER UNITED SUBS: Victor Lindelof, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Fred, Daniel James, Luke Shaw, Dean Henderson, Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay.

MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Axel Tuanzebe, Harry Maguire, Alex Telles; Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic; Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial; Marcus Rashford.

The Blades are at the other end of the spectrum after taking only five points from their opening 19 matches. Chris Wilder’s men claimed a vital win over Newcastle United to earn their first victory of the campaign, but their hopes of survival in the Premier League look slim to say the least. They need to start picking up wins, even ones in unlikely places. A victory at Old Trafford could provide a turning point for the south Yorkshire outfit.

Manchester United were surpassed at the top of the Premier League by Manchester City, who thrashed West Brom on Tuesday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have the perfect chance to respond and reclaim top spot against the bottom club Sheffield United tonight. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last 13 Premier League matches and have won their last three games on the bounce at home. They cannot afford to take their foot off the gas.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Sheffield United at Old Trafford.
