Patrick Vieira announced as new Crystal Palace boss

Crystal Palace have been without a manager since Roy Hodgson departed at the end of the season. The 71-year-old boss had been in charge since 2017, and has left the Eagles firmly in mid-table since their initial promotion to England’s top flight.

Several names have been in the frame for the London role, including ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, ex-Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, and new Tottenham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Ultimately, however, it was ex-Arsenal legend and former Nice boss Patrick Vieira that took up the task of filling Hodgson’s shoes, with the club announcing that the Frenchman had signed a contract to run until 2024.

Vieira took to twitter to confirm the announcement himself, saying that:

Proud and excited to be part of this new journey. I want to thank the CPFC board for their trust & thank the fans for the amount of support I’ve been getting for the past few days. I can’t wait to see you there, back where it all started

Come on you Eagles
