An insight into the respective futures of Arsenal talents Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been forthcoming online, ahead of imminent loan exits for the pair.

Mustafi exit confirmed

Deadline day has of course proven a busy one at the Emirates.

This comes with the Gunners, despite preparing for a Premier League meeting with Wolves in less than 24 hours’ time, having been working hard on a number of departures from Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The January window has already seen all of Mesut Ozil, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba (the latter two on loan) depart north London for pastures new.

With the club’s squad having been heavily bloated for some time now, however, those in a position of power at Arsenal have not stopped there.

The last hour has seen official word forthcoming regarding Shkodran Mustafi’s exit, with the German having linked up with the aforementioned Kolasinac at Bundesliga outfit Schalke.

Unlike in the case of the Bosnian, however, Mustafi has actually moved on on a permanent basis, after an agreement was reached to terminate his contract at the Emirates:

Loan latest

This, though, is still not expected to signal the end of the deadline day departures from Mikel Arteta’s squad.

As confirmed by a host of sources online this evening, both Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are primed to link up with Premier League rivals, on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

The former is set to join Newcastle, with the latter expected to be announced as a West Brom player at any moment.

In turn, the widespread question on the lips of Arsenal’s fans of course surrounded what exactly such deals mean for the respective futures of Willock and Maitland-Niles, two players who made their way through the youth ranks in north London.

The answer? Both could yet return to carve out spots for themselves under Mikel Arteta.

This comes with confirmation having also been forthcoming that neither Newcastle or West Brom will be afforded the option to make their deals for the Gunners’ talents permanent, come the summer:
