After scoring in his last two appearances for Stoke City, ex-Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has done it again, powering home a superb effort during Wales’ World Cup qualifier away to Austria.

On 22 minutes, a Gareth Bale centre eventually found its way to Chris Gunter in the Austrian box, and when the Reading defender nodded the ball back, Allen was there to power home a tremendous left-footed effort…

What a cracker!

Wales could only hold on to their lead for six minutes, however, with Allen’s Stoke team-mate Marko Arnautovic leveling the scores in Vienna.

However, on the stroke of half-time, an own-goal put Chris Coleman’s charges back in front.
